Recommended Cocktail: Provo Rhumba
Getting There: PLS (Providenciales airport)
Must Do: Sunset at infinity pool
Providenciales, a tourist destination on the island of Turks and Caicos, boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The island is from coral, rather than volcanic origin, so its sands are lightly colored and soft. One of the island’s most valuable, not so best kept secrets, is Amanyara Resort.
Their first class service starts once you step outside the airport. We were greeted by a very engaging chauffeur, whose warm introduction was a preview of our relaxing experience to come. He ushered us into a white Land Rover, the resort's standard shuttle fleet, where we were provided a moist towel and bottled water. After about 20 minutes into the drive, we exited off the highway and meandered down a long dirt road that was flanked with acres of green shrubbery and miniature palms — this thrilling 10 minute experience is mini-journey within itself. Amanyara is tucked away at the edge of the Caribbean Sea and once we got there, service staff were standing at the entrance with champagne wreathed in white napkins. We imbibed.
Amanyara is the peaceful place its name signifies, and under promises, yet over delivers on the luxurious, opulent and impeccable service that it provides to the vacationer in need of being pampered and spoiled. The white sand beaches stretch for miles and are intimately cuddled by turquoise seas that can be viewed from any angle as you laze in any of the oceanfront villas perched atop natural stone headlands. Each villa is intricately designed and secluded — a perfect setting where technology stays out of sight and mind, and staff visit to merely ensure our selfish needs were being met.
The resort grounds are vast, so bikes are provided throughout your stay to navigate to and from your villa — golf cart shuttle can also be requested. At dusk, the bright orange sunset lit up the sky and reflected off the surface of the infinity pool, providing a picturesque backdrop for an evening dinner. The seafood at Amanyara is always freshly caught and their buttery sauces leave the palette wanting for more.
Amanyara, Turks and Caicos, is an all-round calming exposure that provides a level of hospitality and zen that very few would have experienced in a lifetime.
